The grave is of William Albutt who died in 1770. Wife Mary died in 1773. He was a blacksmith. His mother Hannah Chance was sister to one of the Chances of Bromsgrove whose children went on the produce the Chance family, the famous Glass makers in Birmingham.
Some of William's children became blacksmiths in Selly Oak then Birmingham. The last one traced in my line was Felix Albutt who still ran Albutt Engineering a blacksmithing factory in Ladypool Road, Balsall Heath as late as 1950.
