Severn Valley Railway Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales Circa 1870

Severn Valley Railway, a railway in Worcester and Salop; from a junction with the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton line at Hartlebury, up the Valley of the Severn to Shrewsbury, with branches in Kidderminster parish, and to Madeley, Coldbrookdale, and neighbouring places. The main line and northward branches were authorized in 1853; and a short line in Kidderminster, in 1861. The railway was leased in 1860, for 999 years, to the West Midland.
