Roel or Rowell Morris Gloucestershire Directory 1876

Roel (or Rowell), is a small parish and village, formerly extra parochial, in Winchcomb union, consisting of 7 cottages, and containing by the census of 1861, 50, and in 1871, 42 inhabitants, and 1052 acres of land, in the lower division of Kiftsgate hundred, East Gloucestershire; 4 miles south-east from Winchcomb, 11 east from Cheltenham and 94 from London. It has neither church nor school. Major Solloway, Esq., is lord of the manor and owner of the whole parish. The rateable value is £862.
