Moxby Yorkshire Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales Circa 1870

Moxby, a hamlet in Marton-in-the-Forest parish, N. R. Yorkshire; 3 ½ miles ENE of Yarn. Pop., 202. A Benedictine nunnery was founded here by Henry II., and was given, at the dissolution, to the Archbishop of York.
