Clifford Chambers is a parish and village on the borders of the county, in Stratford-on-Avon union, containing, by the census of 1861, 344, and in 1871, 315 inhabitants, with 2500 acres of land, in the deanery of Campden, archdeaconry of Gloucester, diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, hundred of Kiftsgate, East Gloucestershire, 1 ½ mile east from Milcote Station, on the Stratford-on-Avon branch of the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton Railway, 2 from Stratford-on-Avon, 12 from Broadway, 14 north-east from Evesham, and 40 north-east from Gloucester. The rectory, in the patronage and incumbency of the Rev. Francis Annesley, is valued at £170 per annum. The church, dedicated to St. Helen, consists of chancel, north and south aisles, and tower containing 5 bells. There is a Free School for children of both sexes. The rateable value is £2964.
