Taplow Buckinghamshire Lewis Topographical Dictionary of England 1845

TAPLOW (St. Nicholas), a parish, in the union of Eton, hundred of Burnham, county of Buckingham, 1 mile (E. N. E.) from Maidenhead ; containing 744 inhabitants. The parish is separated from the county of Berks by the river Thames, on which is an extensive paper-mill; and the Great Western railway passes within half a mile of the church. Cleifden, here, which was the residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, during the infancy of their son, George III., formerly belonged to a member of the Hamilton family, who fought under the celebrated Duke of Marlborough, and who, on his return from the continent, indulged the fancy of figuring the battle of Blenheim, by plantations of trees, now in full vigour.

Nash Buckinghamshire Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales Circa 1870

NASH, a hamlet in Whaddon parish, Bucks; 5 ½  miles E of Buckingham. Acres, 1,430. Real property, £1,813, Pop., 462. Houses, 103. The property is divided chiefly among five. The hamlet forms chief part of the chapelry of Thornton-cum-Nash; and contains the church of that chapelry, a Baptist chapel, and a national school. Nash Common is a meet for the Whaddon Chase hounds.

MURSLEY, a village and a parish in Winslow district, Bucks. The village stands 1 ½ mile ESE of Swanbourne r. station, and 3 ¼ E by N of Winslow; was once a market town; and has a post-office under Winslow. —The parish contains also the hamlet of Salden. Acres, 2,840. Real property, £4,248. Pop., 482. Houses, 112. The property is divided among a few. The manor belongs to W. Selby Lowndes, Esq. A mansion of the Fortescue family stood at Salden, but was taken down in 1743. The living is a rectory in the diocese of. Oxford. Value, £350. Patron, W. Selby Lowndes, Esq. The church stands on an eminence, with a commanding view; and is a neat structure, with a tower. There are a Baptist chapel, a national infant school, and charities £7.

The village stands 2 miles NNE of Newport-Pagnell r. station; was known, at Domesday, as Seritone; and has a post-office under Newport-Pagnell. The parish comprises 1,780 acres. Real property, £3,794. Pop., 839. Houses, 184. The property is much subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford. Value, £430. Patron, the Bishop of 0. The church stands on an eminence, and has a tower and small spire. There are chapels for Independents and Wesleyans, and charities £5.
