William Wyatt (18), grocer of St John's, was summonsed by the Worcester Gas Company for extinguishing a public gas lamp in St John's. The gas company stated that there had been several recent complaints from the public about street lamps being out in the St John's area.
The court was told that Wyatt had deliberately put out three gas lamps in Vernon Park, casting the district into darkness in the evenings.
Defendant, who said he had done it all for 'a lark', was fined £1 with 15s.6d costs.
